Location

Cheshire, located in the north-west corner of England, shares borders with Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Staffordshire, Shropshire and Derbyshire. Recent years have witnessed Cheshire’s economy experiencing significant expansion. Unemployment rates are below national average and claimant counts remain stable from year-ago levels; furthermore, economically inactive individuals have decreased significantly since 2012.

Cheshire County, although predominantly agricultural in nature, has experienced rapid industrial development over time. By the 19th century it had become one of England’s major industrial areas due to Manchester expanding into north-eastern Cheshire and developing its chemicals industry – further cementing Cheshire’s place among major industrial areas of England. Education

Cheshire boasts an excellent public school system. Students perform above average on national assessments. Cheshire ranks ninth in the state on Next Generation Accountability’s assessment which evaluates various metrics related to academic growth, participation in Advanced Placement courses and exams, graduation and how ready students are for college; graduation rate metrics did well as well; however there remains room for improvement regarding chronic absenteeism as well as closing gaps between those from low income backgrounds and those without.
